This Week in Pippa Passes (1/21/2023-1/27/2023)

This week in Pippa Passes, while there were no convocations, the Student Government Association hosted a Kentucky Blood Center blood drive on Tuesday, January 24, and participating students received a convocation credit. The Blood Center and SGA are thankful to all who gave blood or attempted to give blood. Thanks to the ALC Community, the Kentucky Blood Center was able to collect 22 pints of blood from participants. In sports, the basketball teams faced off against St. Mary of the Woods on Saturday, January 21 and IU Southeast and Tuesday, January 24. The Eagles defeated St. Mary-Woods by a score of 89-60. The Lady Eagles won their matchup with St Mary-Woods as well by a score of 75-63. Later in the week, the Eagles fell to IU Southeast on the road by a score of 84-69. The Lady Eagles narrowly lost to IU Southeast, in overtime, by a score of 75-72.

In other news, representatives from the Social Security Administration met with interested graduating seniors in the Davis Student Center foyer from 11:00am-1:00pm on Monday, January 23 regarding jobs with the department. Also, the Resident Advisors conducted dorm room checks on Thursday, January 26 starting at 7pm.

This weekend, the Eagles and Lady Eagles basketball teams will face off against Midway University in a doubleheader at 1pm and 3pm on Saturday, January 28.

Next week in Pippa Passes will also feature exciting sports action. The basketball teams will travel to compete against Carlow University on Thursday, February 2 in a doubleheader at 6pm and 8pm. The basketball teams will take on Point Park on the road at 1pm and 3pm on Saturday, February 4. The ALC Track and Field team will compete at an indoor meet in Cedarville Ohio on Friday, February 3. This will be the Track and Field team’s last indoor meet before the NCCAA Nationals in indoor track later in the month of February. For more information about ALC Athletics, click here.

There will be no convocation next week, however, there will be other campus events to attend. On Thursday, February 2, the Residents Advisors will host Open Dorm in the male residence halls, Berger-Auen Hall and Howard Hall, from 7pm-9pm. Also on Thursday, Student Activities is hosting an Xbox 2k tournament. The tournament will tip off at 7:30pm, and there will be $50 in prizes.
