[Men's Wrestling] Knights Wrestling Competes at Emmanuel Open and Reinhardt Duels over the Weekend
The men's and women's wrestling programs both had competitions this weekend, with the men competing against full-time AAC opponents Reinhardt Eagles and Truett-McConnell Bears on Saturday. Gabrielle Holloway (Washington, DC) represented the Knights at the Emmanuel Open on Sunday afternoon, and enjoyed a tremendous day including taking down a ranked opponent at the event. Holloway ended the day going 4-2, including two pins, and a narrow 8-7 victory by decision. For her performance, Gabrielle Holloway was awarded fourth in the women's 155 class at the Emmanuel Open.
The Reinhardt Eagles proved to be a stout test and shut down the Knights men's wrestling program in all classes. James Roberts (Hilton Head Island, SC) came close in the 141 class after narrowly losing to CJ Shadinger after going the distance and a 9-6 decision. Joshua Soliz also narrowly came close to upsetting as well, as he narrowly lost to AuShaud Evans in the 157 class by a final decision of 5-4.
The Knights were able to bounce back in the Truett-McConnell match as James Roberts, Andrew Adams (Valdosta, GA) and Tyler Godfrey (Crystal River, FL) were all able to defeat their opponents via the pin. Unfortunately a couple of early forfeits, eanred the Knights the lost, however a performance like this is something that they will be happy to take away from the event.
