[Track & Field] Kucera Selected as National Field Athlete of the Week
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The NAIA has announced its men's indoor track and field athletes of the week for competitions from January 9-15, 2023. Midland University's Dylan Kucera has been named the NAIA Men's Field Athlete of the Week, joining Joseph Taylor of Southeastern (Fla.), who was named the track athlete of the week. The duo was chosen out of a pool of nominees from across the country.
Kucera, a senior from Fremont, Nebraska, won the shot put and weight throw events at the South Dakota Kickoff meet last weekend. He had a nation-leading best throw of 18.08m in the shot put and had an effort of 19.03m in the weight throw, which is second-best in the nation. Both distances eclipsed the NAIA 'A' Standard and qualified him for the indoor national championships where he will be looking to earn his third-straight individual championship.
