[Women's Basketball] Saints Get Comeback Win Over Eagles
Elgin, Ill. The Holy Cross women's basketball team continued their conference play when they traveled to Judson University to take on the Eagles this afternoon. Both teams had a slow start offensively in the first quarter. Jordyn Smith was the leading scorer, with 5 points in the first quarter. The Saints would trail 13-10 going into the second quarter. In the second quarter, Neva Longhofer stepped up off the bench for the Saints and was able to score 5 points in the quarter, but the Saints would still trail 27-20 going into the half. The Saints kept themselves in this game with their ability to outrebound the Eagles. Grace Adams led the way with 15 rebounds in the game. The Saints outscored the Eagles 17-16 in the third quarter and would still trail 43-37 going into the fourth quarter. In the fourth quarter, the Saints took over offensively with Jordyn Smith and Grace Adams leading the way with their fourth quarter scoring. The Saints would outscore the Eagles 29-16 in the fourth quarter. The Saints fourth quarter effort would complete the comeback and give them the 66-59 victory. With the win, Holy Cross improves to 4-5 overall and 2-2 in conference play, while Judson University drops to 2-4 and 1-2.
