[Women's Basketball] Big Fourth Quarter Propels Saints in Win
Notre Dame, IND. The Holy Cross women's basketball team continued their conference play when they hosted Governors State University this evening. Holy Cross had a very efficient first quarter, when they scored 13 points on 50% shooting from the field. This gave the Saints a 13-8 lead at the end of the first quarter. In the second quarter, Governors State was the more efficient team, and they outscored the Saints 21-13. The Saints would trail 29-26 going into halftime. Coming out of the half, the Saints found their shot and were able to shoot 46% from the field and 50% from three-point range. Despite the good shooting, the Saints would still trail 50-44 going into the fourth quarter. In the fourth quarter, the Saints played great defense, while still shooting the ball efficiently. The Saints shot the ball 40% from the field and were able to outscore Governors State 21-7 in the fourth quarter. The Saints would go on and win 65-57. With the win, Holy Cross improves to 3-5 overall and 1-2 in conference play, while Governors State drops to 1-5 and 0-2.
