O’s Mauled By The Tigers

It wasn’t pretty. Held without a hit for 6.1 innings, the Orioles strung together two singles, ending the no-hitter. Four walks and those two singles were the totality of the Baltimore offense in an 11-0 loss to the Detroit Tigers, the second worst team (56-91) in the American League. These are the teams playoff contending teams should beat, especially at home.

Ryan Mountcastle went 1 for 2 with 2 walks and Anthony Santander went 1 for 3. Austin Hays (0 for 2, 1 BB) and Adley Rutschman (0 for 3, 1 BB) both reached base via walks. Short and not so sweet, that was the Baltimore offense.

Starter Tyler Wells struggled through 3.0 innings, surrendering 5 runs on 4 hits while walking 3 and striking out 3.

Five relievers followed, each surrendering at least a run. DL Hall (1.0 IP, 1 R, 2 H, 1 K, 1 WP), Jake Reed (1.0 IP, 1 R, 1 K, 1 Hit Batter), Keegan Akin (1.0 IP, 1 R, 2 H, 1 K) and Michael Baumann (2.0 IP, 1 R, 3 H, 2 K) each failed to stop the Tigers. Ryan McKenna (1.0 IP, 2 Runs, 3 Hits) was the fifth and final reliever, called in for mop-up duty.
