AAA: Rochester Red Wings (39-31) 2, Syracuse Mets (27-42) 3 Box Score

It was the Travis Blankenhorn show in Syracuse on Friday. The 25-year-old utilityman got the Mets on the board with a solo home run in the fourth inning and would eventually score the winning run after stealing third base in the eighth and advancing on a throwing error. It’s been quite a month for Blankenhorn who’s now slashing .361/.432/.569 in 72 at-bats since the start of June.

Trevor Cahill allowed two runs (one earned) while working around three hits and five walks over four innings in his third start with Syracuse. The Mets’ bullpen would then blank the Red Wings for five innings en route to a one-run victory.

Alex Claudio would earn his second win a fifth-straight scoreless outing (6.1 innings). Bryce Montes de Oca was also impressive out of the bullpen striking out four in two innings. The 6-foot-7 right-hander had seen his K/9 drop to 8.00 after posting a 12.46 mark in 17.1 innings with Binghamton.

Stephen Nogosek worked around two hits and a walk to earn his third save of the year. Nogosek has allowed just two earned runs in 16.2 innings with Syracuse this season.

AA: Reading Fightin Phils (29-38) 0, Binghamton Rumble Ponies (26-41) 2 Box Score

Ronny Maurico’s fourth-inning solo shot would prove to be all the offense the Rumble Ponies would need in Friday’s 2-0 shutout victory over Reading.

Carlos Cortes would tack on a second run, driving in Brett Baty with a double in the sixth inning. Cortes has now hit safely in three straight contests, going 4-for-11 in that span.

Justin Lasko scattered four hits and a walk over six innings in his first start with Binghamton after posting a 7.11 in 25.1 innings out of the bullpen.

Binghamton’s bullpen was equally effective. Willy Tavares, Yeizo Campos, and Dedniel Nunez combined for three scoreless innings while allowing just two hits. Nunez has logged eight strikeouts in his first five innings with the Rumble Ponies this season.

A+: Jersey Shore BlueClaws (25-42) 1, Brooklyn Cyclones (31-36) 2 Box Score

The Cyclones won another low-scoring ballgame in a 2-1 victory over the BlueClaws.

Jose Mena opened the scoring with a third-inning home run, his third of the year. An RBI single from Jaylen Palmer in the fourth would stand as the winning run.

Meanwhile, Tanner Murphy would stay hot with a fourth-inning double. Murphy, an 18th-round pick in 2019, is now slashing .343/.378/.600 in June.

Nick Zwack earned his first win with Brooklyn, striking out six over five scoreless innings. The 23-year-old lefthander has allowed just one run in his last four starts (19 innings) while sporting a 20/3 strikeout-to-walk ratio in that span.

Nate Jones would allow a home run in the seventh before Sammy Tavarez retired the final four batters to record the save. The 6-foot-7 Tavarez has allowed just one run on two hits in his last nine innings while striking out 15.

A: St. Lucie Mets (40-26) 6, Palm Beach Cardinals (31-34) 9 Box Score

St. Lucie jumped out to an early lead with three runs in the first but couldn’t overcome a late Palm Beach rally in the 9-6 loss.

Omar De Los Santos had a huge game with a triple and a home run while driving in four. The 22-year-old outfielder now has five hits in his last eight at-bats as he extends his hitting streak to eight games.

Carlos Dominguez would also add his FSL-leading 14th home run of the year in the fifth inning.

Javier Atencio allowed three runs (two earned) while scattering four hits and five walks and striking out seven. It’s the second-straight seven strikeout/five walk outing for Atencio.

Joshua Cornielly would take the loss in relief after allowing three runs in the sixth inning. Reyson Santos couldn’t stop the bleeding, allowing three runs in the final 2.1 innings.

Florida Complex League: FCL Nationals (8-5) 11, FCL Mets (8-6) 2 Box Score

The Mets only mustered two runs on four hits as they dropped a second-straight contest to the FCL Nats.

Dominican Summer League: DSL Mets 1 (7-7) 2, DSL Mets 2 (7-7), 1 Box Score
