[Indoor Track & Field] Track and Field Post New National Standards at Polar Dog

Doane Track and Field competed at the Polar Dog Invite on Saturday in Seward, a meet hosted by Concordia. The Tigers posted six new NAIA qualifying standards and seven event victories on the day.

In men's action on the track, Kalen Dockweiler (JR/Callaway, Neb.) placed second in the mile run with a time of 4:18.66, two-tenths of a second away from first place and a personal best time. His flat track conversion time according to the NAIA national standings was reduced to 4:15.40, an automatic national qualifying time.

Zach Turner (SO/Crete, Neb.) posted a season-best time of 8.12 seconds in the finals to win the 60m hurdles, meeting the automatic qualifying time for the event. He was two-hundredths of a second off his personal best time.

Additional wins on the track came from JaDae Moore as he won the 60m dash with a time of 7.02 and the 200m dash with a time of 22.73. Aidan Wheelock (JR/Minden, Neb.) won the 600m run with a time of 1:23.02.

In the field events, Matthew Campbell (SR/Ainsworth, Neb.) won the weight throw with a toss of 19.12m (62-08.75) which met the NAIA automatic qualifying standard and was just off his season-best mark by two feet. Campbell added a provisional qualifying mark in the shot put with a season-best throw of 15.66m (51-04.50). Luke Partridge (SO/Wahoo, Neb.) added a personal best throw in the weight throw with a mark of 17.43m (57-02.25) which improves his automatic qualifying standard.

In women's action, Annika Pingel (SR/Pella, Iowa) won her second race of the weekend with a victory in the 600m run. She posted a time of 1:38.60 and with the flat track conversion improving her time to 1:37.41 for the national leaderboard, she hit an NAIA provisional qualifying time.

Allison Skala (SR/North Platte, Neb.) won the shot put with a throw of 13.89m (45-07.00) to take over the top spot nationally. It marked the second week in a row where a Doane thrower hit the top throw in the NAIA on the week and took over the top spot on the leaderboard.

Doane will return home next weekend when they host the Fred Beile Classic on January 29 in Crete.
