[Cross Country] Men's and Women's Cross Country Falcons Each Picked Second in KCAC Coaches' Poll
WICHITA, Kan. – The Friends University men's and women's cross country teams have each been chosen to finish second in the KCAC Preseason Coaches' polls, the league released today (Aug. 24).
The University of Saint Mary was the pick to win the league in both surveys, with Tabor College and Kansas Wesleyan University following Friends in the men's poll.
McPherson College and Ottawa University were tied for fifth for the men, while KWU, Tabor and York College rounded out the top five in the women's poll.
Sophomore Isaac Oquendo returns for the Falcon Men after finishing 18th in the KCAC meet, while the Women's Falcons welcome back four Top 20 conference meet runners in junior Aubry Donley (second), senior Grace Garrison (12th), junior Caroline Giles (14th) and senior Estrella Mendoza (19th).
"Each season there is a new reason for optimism," said head coach Jason Parr. "I'm looking forward to great competition and leadership this season. We look forward to assembling the best possible team we can to have the opportunity to showcase our talent at the national meet come November. The KCAC presents some tough challenges in order to arrive at our final destinations for our end season goal."
The Falcon men and women will start their 2021 season on Saturday (Sept. 4) at the Wichita State University JK Gold Classic in Augusta, Kan.
