Cincinnati Reds and St. Louis Cardinals Benches Clear in the Fourth Inning

0 5

Baseball shenanigans are back! The Cincinnati Reds and St. Louis Cardinals benches cleared in the fourth inning of their Saturday afternoon contest.

The incident was precipitated when Nick Castellanos was hit by a pitch in the fourth inning. Castellano ended up on third after a Joey Votto single and came around to score on a wild pitch from Jake Woodford. The two met at home plate, with Castellanos scoring on a close play. And that’s where things got heated.

Castellanos stood over top of Woodford and stared him down before celebrating the run. Yadier Molina took exception, and next thing you know, it was a full-on dosey-doe, and everyone had a partner.

Woodford plunking Castellanos may have come as retribution from Castellano’s home run celebration on Opening Day, where he started skipping to first base after taking Jack Flaherty deep.

The three-game set concludes with Sunday’s rubber match. Check back to FanDuel Sportsbook closer to first pitch for a line on the game.
