CPBL: Lions win Taiwan Series before another sell-out crowd

<p>TAICHUNG, Taiwan -- The Uni-President 7-Eleven Lions defeated the CTBC Brothers, 7-4, Sunday night in Game 7 of the 2020 Chinese Professional Baseball League (CPBL) Taiwan Series at a sold-out Taichung Intercontinental Baseball Stadium.</p>

<p>It is the Lions' league-leading 10th CPBL title, as they overcame a three-games-to-one series deficit. Former Boston Red Sox prospect <strong>Teddy Stankiewicz</strong> allowed four runs over 6.2 innings, before Canadian <strong>Brock Dykxhoorn</strong> came on in relief to secure the win and the series for the Lions.</p>

<p>Due to COVID-19, all Taiwan Series games were played at 78% maximum capacity. All seven games of the Taiwan Series were sold out. </p>

<p>CPBL, an associate member of WBSC, was the first professional baseball league to open the season following the COVID-19 outbreak. The annual CPBL award ceremony is scheduled for 16 November and will officially close the season of 2020.</p>
