NFL Draft Ratings: Kyle Trask
If you’re looking for a quarterback who could exceed expectations in his NFL career compared to his draft stock, then Kyle Trask is a player who fits that description. Some projections have Trask being selected in the third round, which is surprising considering he threw for 4,300 passing yards and 43 touchdowns last season.
One quarterback in the NFL that Trask closely resembles is Josh Allen of the Buffalo Bills. Both players are about six feet, five inches tall, and weigh roughly 240 pounds. Like Allen, Trask is also a mobile quarterback, capable of executing the run-pass option.
If Trask is selected as more of a longer-term project in the draft, it could benefit him and the team down the road. And with the advancement of analytics in today’s game, it’s more about what tools the quarterback already has in his arsenal than whether he put up gaudy numbers during his time on the field in college.
Should Trask sit for a year or two on the sidelines, he shouldn’t at all be dissuaded. After all, Aaron Rodgers sat behind Brett Favre for three years, and he’s widely regarded as the best quarterback in the league.
