[Baseball] No. 13 Westmont Sweeps Hawks

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – The SDCC baseball team was only able to muster three runs in the DH on Saturday as the Hawks fell to No. 13 Westmont 4-2 in Game 1 and 10-1 in Game 2.

 

Billy Strohm was able to get the Hawks on the board in the fifth inning scoring Cade Cabral. Westmont answered back in the bottom half of the inning. A 2-run homer and an RBI single gave the Warriors a 4-1 lead heading into the top of the 8th inning. Dawson Pate hit a single up the middle to score Tyler Schindel to cap the scoring.

 

Jake Luther and Strohm hit back-to-back singles with two outs in the top of the 9th but the Warriors were able to get out of the scare and take the first game.

 

Luke Gentry started the game for the Hawks throwing six innings and allowing three runs, while striking out two.

 

Westmont held the Hawks to just one hit in the second game of the DH. Ryan Lystlund hit a single to center. The next five innings, the Hawks failed to get a hit.

 

The Hawks will travel to HIU for four game on the weekend, two on Friday and two on Saturday. First pitch is scheduled for 11 a.m. on Friday.
