[Competitive Cheer] Competitive Cheer Falcons Set to Compete in KCAC Championship Meet Tomorrow
WICHITA, Kan. – The Friends University Competitive Cheer Falcons will participate in the KCAC Championship Meet, scheduled to begin at 5 pm tomorrow (Feb. 19) at Bethany College in Lindsborg, Kan.
The Season Thus Far: The Falcons have made tremendous strides under head coach Jill Fenske and graduate assistant coach Courtney Simpson. The squad captured the KWU Invitational championship (Jan. 29) with a solid score of 70.2 after finishing fourth in their annual "Day of Duels" competition (Jan. 23) inside the Garvey Center.
Peak Season: Following their fourth-place showing at the "Day of Duels", the Falcons climbed as high as 10th in the NAIA national rankings.
Quoting Head Coach Jill Fenske: "Our Falcon Cheer Team is excited to take the mat on Friday and execute the skills we have been working on all season. We were slated to come in third in the conference in preseason polls- and I look for us to be making a run at the top seat. Our tumblers have really been focusing on their technique and I hope that the judges take note of that when it comes to the score sheet. We also are very excited for our elite stunt group to hit their 1.5 up to open up their sequence.
This team has truly been such a fun group to watch develop and gain skills over the last year. I look forward to seeing their hard work pay off through conference awards and high scores! Talons Up!"
