[Indoor Track & Field] Turner Wins Two Events; Tigers Ready for GPAC

Doane Track and Field competed at the Concordia Invite on Saturday for their final tune up prior to the GPAC Championships. Doane athletes posted 10 event victories and 10 new or improved NAIA Top 20 marks.

On the men's side, Zach Turner (FR/Crete, Neb.) was a double-event winner by taking the 400m dash and 60m hurdle titles. In the 400m, he posted a time of 49.93 with a track conversion time of 49.15 to place 14th in the NAIA. It was the first time this season he ran a non-relay 400m event. In the 60m hurdles, he posted a time of 8.15 in the prelims and an 8.19 in the finals with both times the fastest in each race.

Kalen Dockweiler (SO/Callaway, Neb.) posted a time of 2:32.17 in the 1000m run to win the race and his track conversion time of 2:30.10 is ninth-fastest in the NAIA. Additional men's victories on the track included Jordan Tasler (SO/Atkinson, Neb.) with a time of 1:26.21 in the 600m run and Alec Wick (SR/Blair, Neb.) in the 3000m with a time of 8:49.83.

In field events for the men, Sergio Arcos (JR/Columbus, Neb.) won the long jump with a leap of 7.08m (23-02.75) and moved into ninth place on the NAIA chart. John Himmelberg (SO/Lawrence, Neb.) won the triple jump with a mark of 13.73m (45-00.50). Richard Dover (SR/Norfolk, Neb.) posted two improved NAIA marks in the shot put and weight throw. His toss of 15.83m (51-11.25) in the shot put moved him into 12th nationally while his throw of 17.87m (58-07.50) in the weight throw sits 11th-best in the NAIA.

For the Tiger women, Allison Skala (SR/North Platte, Neb.) won the shot put with a personal-best throw of 13.81m (45-03.75) and is third-best in the NAIA this season. Madison Sutton (FR/Lexington, Neb.) moved into eighth place nationally in the weight throw with a toss of 16.54m (54-03.25).

Nicole Harms (SO/Sterling, Neb.) won the long jump with a leap of 5.56m (18-03.00). Her mark is 12th-best in the NAIA this year.

On the track, Annika Pingel (JR/Pella, Iowa) won the 800m run with a time of 2:21.60. Mackenzie Brandl (SR/Stanton, Neb.) moved into the Top 20 of the NAIA in the 400m dash as she ran a time of 1:00.01. Her track converted time of 59.23 is 19th-best in the NAIA.

Doane will travel to Sioux Center, Iowa, for the GPAC Championships on February 19-20. This year's meet is hosted by Dordt University.
