[Indoor Track & Field] Track Hits Five NAIA Marks to Open '21 Slate
Doane Track and Field hosted the Ward Haylett Invite on Saturday in Crete, posting five NAIA national qualifying standard marks and 12 event victories.
The Tigers' five NAIA marks came on the men's side led by Matthew Campbell (SR/Ainsworth, Neb.) with two. In the weight throw he hit an auto mark of 17.57m/57-07.75. In the shot put, he had a provisional qualifier with a mark of 15.48m/50-09.50. Richard Dover (SR/Norfolk, Neb.) added a provisional mark in the weight throw with a toss of 16.48m/54-01.00.
Sergio Arcos (JR/Columbus, Neb.) won the high jump with a mark of 2.02m/6-07.50, a provisional qualifier. Zach Turner (FR/Crete, Neb.) won the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.24, a provisional qualifier as he missed the automatic standard by one-hundredth of a second.
Additional wins on the men's side came from Austin Drake (JR/Allen, Texas) in the 200m (22.88), Ryan Evans (FR/Waverly, Neb.) in the 600m (1:32.38), Kalen Dockwiler in the 1000m (2:34.58), Aidan Wheelock (SO/Minden, Neb.) in the mile run (4:34.35), Alec Wick (SR/Blair, Neb.) in the 3000m (9:01.57), and the 4x400m relay team (3:29.61).
Victories for the Tiger women came from MacKenzie Brandl in the 200m (27.02), the 4x400m relay (4:17.84), Sarah Theiler in the high jump (1.61m/5-03.25), and Lauren Theiler (SR/Omaha, Neb.) in the triple jump (10.33m/33-10.75).
