[Men's Wrestling] Wrestling Wins Two Duals at Grand View

Doane Wrestling opened the 2020 season on Saturday at the Grand View Duals. The Tigers opened with wins over Benedictine (42-4) and Oklahoma Wesleyan (54-0) before dropping their final match to defending NAIA champion, Grand View (7-43). In the second division, Doane also had a team that went 1-1, falling to Grand View and defeating Benedictine.

In the first division, Doane picked up nine individual wins against Benedictine. Among the victories were four pins. Daniel Vargas (JR/San Diego, Calif.) won at 133 in 4:26, Baagii Boldmaa (JR/Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia) won at 141 in 1:20, Benjamin Dobler (FR/Torokszentmiklos, Hungary) won at 165 in 6:43, and Brandon Antesberger (SO/North Pole, Alaska) won at 285 in 3:55.

Against Oklahoma Wesleyan, the Tigers won all 10 weight divisions which included eight by pin fall. The fastest pin of the day for Doane came from Bradley Antesberger (SO/North Pole, Alaska) at 197 as he won in 33 seconds.

In the final match with Grand View, Boldmaa and Bradley Antesberger picked up wins. Boldmaa posted a 3-1 decision victory while Antesberger won by major decision, 14-1.

In the second division, Grand View defeated Doane, 56-0 in taking all 10 matches. In the Benedictine dual, the Tigers won 24-22 as Zion Longsine (FR/La Verne, Calif.) won 7-4 at 285 to pick up three points for the win. Each team won five matches, however, Doane had three by forfeit resulting in 18 team points.

Doane returns to action on November 21 with a trip to Atchinson, Kan., for the Benedictine Duals.
