Saturday night’s back-and-forth affair saw the Rays even up the series at two apiece.

The Rays were behind for a majority of Game 4 until Brandon Lowe‘s three-run homer off Pedro Baez put his team ahead 5-4. However, the Dodgers responded quickly in the seventh with Joc Pederson‘s single driving in two, flipping the score 6-5 in LA’s favor.

In their half of the seventh, Tampa Bay bounced back to score one on Kevin Kiermaier‘s solo drive to right-center, making it 6-6.

Corey Seager‘s single in the eighth put the Dodgers up by one, seemingly shutting the door once and for all on the Rays.

However, the Rays would not go down without a fight. In the bottom of the ninth, Brett Phillips singled to center, driving in Kiermaier to tie it up at 7. Randy Arozarena, who was close behind following a bobble in center by Chris Taylor, initially stopped halfway between third and home as the ball was thrown in quickly – but an error by catcher Will Smith allowed Arozarena to score, solidifying the win for Tampa Bay.

Dodgers Lineup

  1. Mookie Betts – RF

  7. Chris Taylor – 2B

  9. Austin Barnes – C

Once again, the Dodgers will send ace Clayton Kershaw to the mound, hoping to swing the momentum their way after a tough loss.

Kershaw last pitched in Game 1 of the series and went six innings while allowing just one run – pushing talks of postseason struggles even further behind him.

Rays Lineup

  1. Yandy Díaz – 1B
  2. Randy Arozarena – DH
  3. Brandon Lowe – 2B

The Rays will counter with right-hander Tyler Glasnow as they look to build on Saturday night’s walk-off.

Glasnow also pitched Game 1 of the series, but did not fare as well. In just 4.1 innings, the righty allowed six runs and walked six batters (a season-high).

Game Notes

This is the 47th time in World Series history that the series has been tied at two games apiece, the third year over a four-year span (2017, 2019), and the fifth time in 10 years (also 2011 and 2013).

Brandon Lowe’s three-run homer in the sixth inning of Saturday’s game is his third round-tripper of the 2020 Fall Classic, and he now has the most World Series homers in Rays history.
