[Women's Soccer] Women's Soccer Drops Non-Conf Match with DWU

Doane Women's Soccer hosted their first game of the season on Sunday with Dakota Wesleyan visiting in a non-conference "Battle of the Tigers" in Crete. DWU picked up a 4-0 win on the day to improve to 2-0 overall while Doane fell to 0-2. The two teams will meet on October 10 in Mitchell, S.D., for their conference matchup.

In the opening half, Dakota Wesleyan received a pair of goals from Josephine Bardsley (17', 20') with assists going to Alyssa Weidler. Both teams had six shot attempts in the half with DWU putting four on-goal to Doane's one.

In the second half, DWU received a goal from Kamryn Harrop (54') with Weidler collecting her third assist. Weidler capped off the game with a goal of her own (56') on a redirect with Bailey Nester assisting on the goal.

Hannah Bowes collected the win in goal and finished with four saves. Maddy Meredith (SO/Temecula, Calif.) took the loss, finishing with four saves as well. Doane ended the game with a 12-11 shot advantage, however, DWU held an 8-4 advantage in shots on-goal. Denise Gomez (FR/Porter, Tex.) led Doane with four shot attempts in the game, one on-goal.

Doane will be in action again on Thursday, September 24, when they host Presentation in the conference opener for the Tigers. The Doane/Mount Marty game scheduled for September 16 has been postponed due to a quarantine on the men's side at the Yankton campus.
