What will Soler’s next contract look like?

I believe the contract won’t be a super long-term commitment. Cheers to that, some fans might want him to sign a 4 or 5 year deal. I am not one of those fans. I am in favor of a 3-year contract extension worth about $60 million or more.
Remember, the Royals don’t have the money the Chiefs once did. Yes, you heard me correctly—once did. The Chiefs recently signed star quarterback Patrick Mahomes to a 10-year contract and star defensive end Chris Jones to a 4-year deal. The Royals will however have more money to spend on players like Soler than they did in the past. But they have to be careful with certain player’s contracts. I am mainly talking about Soler. As most of us know, as power hitters age their batting power declines. Even Angels future hall of famer Albert Pujols is declining. Now I am not saying Soler will ever be as good as Pujols, but I think he has power that can frighten pitchers. The other reason the Royals have to be careful with his contract is they will soon have other players that will be eligible for contract extensions in Hunter Dozier, Adalberto Mondesi and Brad Keller.
Let’s hope the Royals don’t overpay Soler. The Royals have a history of overpaying players like Alex Gordon and Ian Kennedy. Regardless of what happens, I believe that Soler will be part of the Royals long-term plan.
