Despite battling stage 4 pancreatic cancer, Alex is ready to return to hosting Jeopardy!

Last month, a rep for Jeopardy! revealed that Alex will return to host the show when filming resumes.

Like many shows, Jeopardy! paused production amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The rep told TVLive: “Alex is looking forward to resuming production as soon as we are able to do so.

“He’s told us he wants to be one of the first shows back in production.”

Fans became concerned about Alex’s health back in May when he was spotted looking frail outside his Los Angeles home as he took out the trash.

In addition to appearing weaker than usual, the beloved game show host seemed to have lost hair.

His hair was thinner than it was on his last Jeopardy! appearance, which is likely due to his chemotherapy treatments.

The 79-year-old – who announced his diagnosis in March last year – gave fans an update on his health when he passed the one-year survival mark.

While only 18 percent of people diagnosed with the disease make it past a year, the father-of-two admitted that he considered giving up his fight due to the pain from chemotherapy.

Back in March, he said in a video posted on social media: “There were moments of great pain.

“Moments when certain bodily functions no longer functioned and some massive attacks of great depression that made me wonder if it was really worth fighting on.”

Alex added: “But I brushed that aside very quickly, because that would have been a massive betrayal.”

Back in June, Alex made a generous donation of $500,000 to the Hollywood homeless shelter Hope of the Valley Rescue Mission to help improve their facilities.

The shelter’s founder, Ken Craft, revealed the news to TMZ.

Ken said that the game show host gave up his own money to help the homeless shelter expand in the next year in the San Fernando Valley with a new 50,000-square-foot facility.

The goal for the new location is to welcome all of the homeless seniors in the area.
