James Mc... CAN
You don’t have to be Nostradamus (the great mystic, not a utility player in the Arizona league) to see that James McCann is one day going to be a great manager if he wants to be.
He has been critical in transforming Giolito from a guy barely hanging on to a spot in the Majors to an All Star elite pitcher.
James himself knows how to re-evaluate and remake himself in the middle of his own career from relative obscurity into an All Star caliber player after a down year in Detroit City.
He seems to have great knowledge of the game and has the equally valuable quality of being a great communicator. He seems to command respect in the locker room and among his opponents as well. Seems to get along with the umps, too.
James could be a success at many things in the future once his playing days are over. But it’s already obvious that this guy is ticketed for managerial stardom if that’s the way he wants to go.
Sox management would be wise to lock up McCann for a future one day in the Sox organization.
P. S. Signing McCann is yet another thing the Sox have done right lately. Whether it’s good luck or good planning, please keep it up. We can get used to this.
