Reds officially sign Zach Duke

0 3

Though it was confirmed weeks ago, the Reds have finally announced that they’ve signed Zach Duke to a 1-year, $2 million deal for 2019:

Duke pitched for the Reds in 2013, where he had a 0.82 ERA in 10 games. all in relief. After making a name for himself as a starter in Pittsburgh, he’s made a solid later career as a reliever for the Diamondbacks, Nationals, Reds, Brewers, White Sox, Cardinals, Twins, and Mariners. Duke immediately becomes the Reds’ go-to situational lefty in the bullpen, and will likely share that duty with one or two of Amir Garrett, Cody Reed, or Wandy Peralta.

To make space on the roster, they also designated pitcher Jose Lopez for assignment. The 24-year-old Lopez went 5-13 with a 4.47 ERA for Louisville last season.
