0 31

Doane University Women's Track and Field athlete, Alexis Dale (Jr./Ravenna, Neb.), has been selected the NAIA National Women's Field Athlete of the Week by the national office. She is the first Doane female to earn the NAIA field event honor for the indoor season.

This past Saturday at the Fred Beile Classic, hosted by Doane, Dale tied the school record in the high jump. Her top height, a mark of 1.78m (5-10.00), matched the mark set by Jana Hochstetler in 1992 at the NAIA District 11 meet. Dale has eclipsed the NAIA national meet qualifying height of 1.65m (5-05.00) in each of Doane's four meets this year.

In addition to tying the school mark, Dale increased her lead nationally in the event. Kyara Black of Spring Arbor (Mich.) is second nationally with a top mark this year of 1.72m (5-07.75) while Doane teammates Claire Sintek (Sr./Norfolk, Neb.) and Shay Brown (Sr./Roca, Neb.) are tied for third nationally with a top height of 1.71m (5-07.25).

Doane will compete at the Concordia Invite on Friday, February 8, and in the conference championship meet, also hosted by Concordia, Saturday, February 16. The NAIA National meet will be held in Brookings, S.D., February 28-March 2 with the women's high jump scheduled for March 2 beginning at 1:30 PM.
