[Men's Indoor Track & Field] Sudbeck, Dickmander Lead Men's Heptathletes
Doane Men's Track and Field hosted the Happy Holiday's Multi-Events on Saturday and Sunday with four Tigers competing in the heptathlon. With the NAIA standard set at 4,150 this year, three Tigers met the qualifying mark in the opening meet. The Top 16 declared competitors in February will compete at nationals in Brookings, S.D.
Levi Sudbeck (JR/Hadar, Neb.) led the Tigers with a 3rd place finish and 4,941 points. In the pole vault, he posted a NAIA national qualifying mark with a height of 4.80m (15-09.00). He added the fastest time in the 60m hurdles on the second day with a time of 8.57. In the high jump, he narrowly missed out on the provisional qualifying height as he went 1.95m (6-04.75). The provisional NAIA mark is 1.99m.
Julius Dickmander (JR/Brule, Neb.) finished 4th with 4,595 points. He met the NAIA provisional mark in the pole vault with a height of 4.60m (15-01.00). Dickmander was the second man to cross the finish line in the final event, the 1,000m run, with a time of 2:56.23.
Placing 8th with 4,152 points was Matthew Wieser (SR/Norfolk, Neb.). He posted one of the top marks in the pole vault with a height of 4.00m (13-01.50). He also ran a sub-3 minute 1,000m as he was clocked in 2:59.82. Landon Schmitt (SR/Hebron, Neb.) posted 4,008 points and placed 9th for the Tigers.
