[Football] Vikings Stay in the Top-5 of the NAIA Coaches' Poll

Kansas City, Missouri – The Grand View University football team fell one spot to No. 5 in the latest NAIA Coaches' Top-25 Poll.

The Vikings defeated the Wildcats of Culver-Stockton in exciting fashion. Brady Jansen (JR/Johnston, IA./Johnston HS) split the uprights with 0:13 left on the clock to put Grand View up 29-27 on the road. With the victory, Grand View is now 7-1 overall and 3-0 in the North Division of the Heart of America Conference.

Jerry Lowe (JR/Tama, IA./ South Tama HS.) eclipsed 1,000 yards for the season in the game against Culver-Stockton and is now the leading rusher in the Heart of America Conference in terms of yards/game. The big tailback is averaging 130.8 yards/contest and has accumulated 1,046 total yards.

The Viking defense regained its position as the best rushing defense in the nation. Grand View has allowed 83.6 yards/game on the ground. The defensive unit is ranked in the Top-10 in both Opponent 3rd Down Conversion Percentage and Opponent First Downs.

Morningside College stays ranked at No. 1 for the third week in a row. The Vikings were jumped by Bethel (TN) who defeated then-No. 10 Lindsey Wilson 56-30. Bethel is now ranked No. 3. Other Heart of America teams that made the Top-25 Poll were: Benedictine (8), Evangel (10) and Baker (14). The full rankings can be seen below.

Grand View hosts the No. 8 Benedictine Ravens next Saturday, November 3rd. This will be the biggest game for the Vikings to date and will determine the North Division Champion of the Heart of America Conference. The Ravens are currently 8-1 overall and 3-0 in the division after a 35-0 victory over William Penn. Kickoff is set for 2:30 PM.
