[Women's Basketball] Women's basketball tops Warren Wilson in season opener

SWANNANOA, N.C. – Women's basketball opened the 2018-19 campaign with a win, 84-69, over Warren Wilson Saturday evening. Darah Dewalt's 16 points helped the Lady Cavs get off to a perfect 1-0 start.

As a team, the Lady Cavs shot 50 percent from the field, 36.7 percent behind the arc, and had four players in double figures. Jala Daniels was right behind Dewalt with 15 points, as Aliyah Thomas and Caleigh Raby tallied 13 and 12, respectively. The bench contributed 24 points, led by Arianna Williams' seven.

Thomas posted the team-high eight rebounds, while also contributing three assists. Taylor Cullen led the Lady Cavs with four assists.

Montreat jumped out to a 10-2 lead in the first quarter, but Warren Wilson battled back to finish the first frame with a 23-17 lead. The Lady Cavs answered back by holding the Owls to 11 points in the second quarter while putting up 29. The Lady Cavs never trailed again after the first half, riding the lead to their first victory of the season.
