Brian Howard

The 6-foot-9 hurler has now started three of the four Ports games I've seen this year, and I really like this kid. Very good command and lots of ground balls. As curveball command improves, he could really become something. At minimum, I think he's an intriguing relief option with his frame. If he hits any roadblocks, his frame gives a chance to mess with his mechanics. I see a ton of potential in him and see him as someone worth watching moving forward.

The three starts I've seen:

4/19 vs. Visalia: 5 IP, 9 K, 2 BB, 5 H, 1 R

5/1 vs. Lancaster: 5 IP, 4 K, 1 BB, 4 H, 1 R

6/6 at San Jose: 7 IP, 7 K, 2 BB, 5 H, 1 R

Last night he got ten groundouts and one flyout.
