[Men's Golf] Trevecca Men's Golf | Trojans Move Up to Sixth; Blain Turner 8th at Greyhound Invite
NOBLESVILLE, Ind. - The Trevecca Nazarene University men's golf team finished sixth at the 2018 Greyhound Invitational hosted by the University of Indianapolis at the Purgatory Golf Club. Blain Turner recorded another top 10 finish, coming in tied for eighth overall.
Blain Turner recorded a one-under-71 on the final two rounds and ended with a 75-71-71=217. It is tied for the 13th best 54-hole tournament performance in school history. Larken Whittemore shot a two-under-par 70 on Tuesday, the lowest round of the day.
With his two par or better rounds this week, Blain Turner broke the school record for most par or better rounds in a season. Joey Bradley produced nine in a season twice.
Trevecca's team total of 882 is the third best 54-hole total in program history. With the fields best round on Tuesday, the Trojans moved up the field several spots.

Just behind Turner is Larken Whittemore shot a two-under-par 70 in the final round to finish 21st with a 75-75-70=220. Trevor Lay finished with a 73-75-76=224. John Leverton with a 73-78-74=225 and Connor Conkel at 76-75-75=226 were the other two Trojans competing.
Larken Whittemore and Blain Turner each finished with a 2.83 average score on the par three holes, ranking them in tie for fourth best in the field. Larken Whittemore is tied for fourth in program history with eight par or better rounds in his career.
TOURNAMENT FIELD REPORT
Alex Scott of Grand Valley State University took the individual medalist honors with a six-under-par 71-69-70=210. Blain Turner of Trevecca was the top finishing member of the Great Midwest Athletic Conference.
TOURNAMENT TEAM LEADERBOARD
Trevecca's 296-296-290=882 closing a 20 stroke deficit after 36-holes to just 14 following the 54-hole tournament's completion. The 882 is the third best 54-hole tournament effort in program history.
Tuesday's final round 290 was the tournaments low team round of the day, four strokes better than the next closest team.
Trevecca finished with the third best total on the par three holes (3.07) and fourth on the par four holes (4.21). As a team the Trojans recorded the second most birdies, scoring 44 over the 54 hole tournament.
Three other current Great Midwest teams in the field. The other G-MAC members in the field were: University of Findlay (12th / 300-297-304=901), Malone University (14th / 298-298-312=908), and Hillsdale College (17th / 313-303-307=923).
The University of Missouri-St. Louis won the event with a 281-291-296=868. Tiffin University, who will join the Great Midwest next season, finished just one place ahead of the Trojans in fifth with a 282-294-298=874.
WHAT'S NEXT
The 2018 Great Midwest Athletic Conference Championships are next, April 23-24 at the Four Bridges Country Club in Liberty Township, Ohio. The 54-hole tournament features 36 holes on April 23rd and a final 18 on April 24th.
