Cactus League Game 30: Reds vs. Indians

0

A good ol’ fashioned Goodyear tussle.

Luis Castillo will toe the rubber for the Cincinnati Reds on Sunday as they take on their complex rivals from Cleveland. It’s obviously due in part to him being out of camp for a week for the birth of his daughter, but it certainly seems like we’ve hardly had a chance to see the fireballing righty much in camp, especially given how much buzz surrounds him after his breakout rookie campaign in 2017. This will certainly be his final Cactus League tune-up, though, and hopefully he’s ready to slice eyeballs once the real games start later this week.

Zack Weiss and Austin Brice are among the pitchers slated to back Castillo in this one, with Barrett Astin and Evan Mitchell is Batman also available.

First pitch is set for 3:05 PM ET - an hour earlier than other recent games - so tune in accordingly with your ears. There’s no TV feed, unfotunately.

Other Notes

  • Prior to the game, the Reds announced a number of major roster moves that give a pretty clear indication of who’ll be around on Opening Day. My take: prudent decisions with some of the younger players, just that it’s a bummer that the veterans that are getting roster spots aren’t, y’know, actually any good at all.
  • This is the final game in Arizona for the Reds this spring, as they’ll travel to Texas to face the Rangers in Globe Life Park the next two days before scooting on up to Cincinnati.
  • Globe Life Park is an awful name for a ballpark.
  • Go Reds. They’re my favorite team!
