[Women's Basketball] Five Women's Basketball Players Named NAIA Scholar-Athlete

KANSAS CITY, Missouri – The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) announced that 143 Division I women's basketball student-athletes have been named to the 2017-18 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athlete Team

Grand View (Iowa) women's basketball topped the list boasting five total student-athletes. Central Methodist (Mo.) and William Woods (Ill.) also each had five awards.

Abbi Ellis (Highland, Kan.), Bailee Arnburg (Stuart, Iowa), Madison Sickles (Cresco, Iowa), Jaci Stumpf (Fort Dodge, Iowa) and Payton Keeney (Carlisle, Iowa) were all recognized as scholar-athletes.

In order to be nominated by an institution's head coach or sports information director, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved junior academic status.
