[Men's Tennis] Men's Tennis: Barbon Shines as Point Competes at ITA Regional
LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. Point University men's tennis traveled to the prestigious Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) South Regional Tournament, hosted by NAIA national men's and women's tennis champions Georgia Gwinnett College, Sept. 22-24, in Lawrenceville, Ga. Sophomore Federico Barbon (Rosario, Santa Fe, Argentina) became the first player ever in Point's five-year men's tennis history to advance into the ITA Regional championship quarterfinals.
The regional tournament field included two-time defending NAIA national champion and tournament hosts, Georgia Gwinnett, which ranked number one in the final coaches' poll after the NAIA national tournament; number two-ranked Xavier University (La.); number 11 University of Mobile (Ala.); number 14 Middle Georgia State; number 15 SCAD-Savannah; number 16 Reinhardt University (Ga.); and number 25 SCAD-Atlanta. Point ranked 33rd in last season's final poll.
