[Women's Golf] Bees open season at Carthage Shootout on the Border
It was a good start to the 2017-18 season for the St. Ambrose women's golf team.
The Bees finished 13th at the season-opening Carthage Shootout on the Border, played at Bristol Oaks Golf Course in Bristol, Wis. SAU finished with a two-day 726, just six shots out of a top-10 finish.
A pair of freshmen led the young St. Ambrose team. Elyse Kalb opened with an 83 Friday before settling for a second-round 90 to finish in a tie for 24th place with a 173. Abigail Scheidecker made a big move on Day 2, shooting an 85 to finish with a 180, good for 48th place.
Junior Emily Jean, the lone upperclassman competing for the Bees, had rounds of 91 and 96 to finish with a 187. Freshman Becki Meils was a shot back with rounds of 93 and 95 giving her a 188.
Sophomore Mackenna Munson (94-95) and freshman Alyson Scheidecker (95-94), playing as an individual, each carded a 189.
