[Women's Golf] ONU finishes fifth at Carthage Shootout on the Border
BRISTOL, Wis. — The start of the 2017-18 season showed promise for the Olivet Nazarene University women's golf team. After day one of the Carthage Shootout on the Border, the Tigers were in third place, only five strokes back of first. Yet, a couple of teams ahead of them went low on day two making it hard for ONU to move up the standings. Olivet finished in the top five, only one stroke back of fourth. The Tigers only finished outside of the top five once during the 2016-17 season.
A total of 105 golfers played in the 36-hole, two-day event at the par-72, 5,836-yard course, Bristol Oaks Golf Club. ONU finished fifth with a team score of 679 (337-342, +103). UW-Whitewater won the event with a score of 649 (332-317, +73). Hope College (Wis.) shot a score of 660 (335-325, +84) to finish second.
