MADISON, S.D. - It happened exactly 50 years ago on Dec. 4, 1971 as Dakota State (S.D.) made history in football. The Trojans came from behind to win the 1971 Boothill Bowl championship game over Northwestern Oklahoma State by the score of 23-20. Dakota State was the first South Dakota collegiate football team to win a postseason bowl game.
