History
The idea for an Arlington street race first mentioned in late 2024, after reports IndyCar was planning an event in the Dallas–Fort Worth area. On 7 October 2024, organisers confirmed the Grand Prix of Arlington, set for March 2026, as a joint venture between IndyCar, the Dallas Cowboys, and the Texas Rangers.
-
Track Layout
Arlington street circuit was designed by Tony Cottman, who has designed several layouts for previous Champ Car and IndyCar street circuits. The circuit is 2.73 miles long (4.39 km) with fourteen turns and its length makes it not only the longest street circuit in the IndyCar calendar but also longer than any permanent road course except fot Road America, which is 4.048 miles (6.515 km).
The circuit is described as “fast and flowing” and winds around three major sporting venues: the AT&T Stadium, Globe Life Field and Choctaw Stadium, homes of the Dallas Cowboys, the Texas Rangers and the United Football League's Arlington Renegades, respectively. It also features a dual pit lane inspired by Detroit.

Practice and Qualifications
IndyCar has brought in a change to the Firestone Fast Six qualifying format for Arlington. There will be single-car, single-lap qualifying. Drivers will leave pit lane and get an opportunity for one lap, starting and ending at the alternate start/finish line.
