2025 Las Vegas Summit ET Season Review

The 2025 Summit ET race season saw a familiar face in the championship again this year. Matthew Fredericks won again and ended up winning the Division 7 “Race of Champions” at the Summit ET Pacific race.

The season started in February and ended in October with a summer break in between. If you’ve ever tried to race in Las Vegas in the summer, you know why!

Race #1 saw Mike Pinkston start off the year with the #1 qualifier reaction time of .004. Kenneth Coleman won the first when Matt Fredericks broke a chain giving Ken the win.

Race #2 had David “Wheels” Wheeler getting the #1 spot with a perfect reaction time! (.000) Mike Cragun defeated Mike Pinkston in the final.

Race #3 (February 15-16, 2025) showed Tracy Giles had a great qualifying weekend. He got a .001 reaction time on Saturday and in race 4 a perfect light .000.

Race #4 In the races, Jeremy Bates won over Dave “Wheels” Wheeler. In race #4, Larry Mota won over Mike Cragun.

Race #5 (March 1-2, 2025) had Clayton Howey getting into the finals twice. Gary Oaks got the #1 spot with a .003 light. Mike Cragun ended up winning over Clayton.

Race #6 Tracy Giles qualified #1 with a .010 reaction time. Clayton Howey won over Gary Oaks.

Race #7 (March 22-23, 2025) Dave “Wheels” Wheeler grabbed the #1 spot with a .005 reaction time. Matt Fredericks beat Kahea Woods in the final.

Race #8 Kahea Woods took the #1 position with a .001. Dave “Wheels” Wheeler ended up winning over Mike Pinkston.

Race #9 (June 7-8, 2025) had the #1 spot taken by Matt Fredericks with a .013. Matt ended up in the final but lost to Jeremy Bates.

Race #10 (June 7-8, 2025) Kip McClain was #1 with a .015 light. Matt Fredericks defeated Robert Brandt in the final.

The Summit ET Pacific Divisional finals were held before the last LVMS races of the year so Matt Fredericks was the track representative. He ended up winning the “Race of Champions” against the other track champs.

Race #11 (October 18-19, 2025) were the final two races of the season. This race saw Gary Oaks getting the best reaction time of .008. This race was for the NHRA.tv “Wally” is given out once a year by each track. Gary Stoffer ended up with the “Wally” when Matt Fredericks red-lighted.

Race #12 (October 18-19, 2025) Final race saw Dan Clifton with the #1 spot with a .006 reaction. Matt Fredericks ended up winning over this year’s NHRA Summit ET “Showdown” champ, who represented the Pacific Division at the National finals.

With 12 races, racers were allowed to drop the lowest 3 races. The top ten finishers were:

  3. Jeremy Bates – 316
  4. Mike Cragun – 314
  5. Mike Pinkston – 232
  6. Kahea Woods – 220
  7. Gary Oaks – 200
  8. Kip McClain – 174
  9. Don Nielsen – 126
  10. Kenneth Coleman – 103

This makes three championships in a row with 4 out of the last 5 years for Matt winning in 2021, 2023, 2024 and 2025! Matt wanted to thank a few people.

We also lost a couple of West Coast dragbike legends this yea,r with Leo Shaver and Pete Steuri passing away. They will be missed!
