Cornwell Quality Tools NHRA U.S. Nationals
Lucas Oil Raceway Indianapolis Raceway Park
August 29 – September 1, 2025
SUNDAY QUALIFYING
Pro Stock Motorcycle’s Gaige Herrera closed out qualifying in impressive fashion, setting the track E.T. record to end the day with a run of 6.738 at 200.98 in his RevZilla/Motul/Vance & Hines Suzuki. Herrera set the track record during the opening session on Friday and then closed out qualifying even better as he attempts to win the world’s biggest drag race for a second straight year.
Herrera also earned his fourth No. 1 qualifier of the season and can close out the regular-season championship on Monday.
“I didn’t think we’d run better than we did on Friday night because it’s definitely warmer than it was Friday, but we literally put the same tune-up back in the bike and that’s what it ran,” Herrera said. “We’re not used to running here in Indy with such beautiful weather. I think that’s probably the best part about this whole weekend so far is the weather.
“I’m also happy about my lights. Today, I was .009 and then .002, so, I feel like that gives me a lot of momentum going into tomorrow. I feel like I’ve got my spot on the Christmas tree and just don’t want to push it too much harder tomorrow.”
Richard Gadson took second with a 6.744 at 201.01 and Brayden Davis qualified third after going 6.753 at 200.50.

SATURDAY QUALIFYING
Richard Gadson got the best of Matt Smith in the final round of the Mission #2Fast2Tasty Challenge in Pro Stock Motorcycle, going an impressive 6.744 at 201.01 on his RevZilla/Motul/Vance & Hines Suzuki.
It’s his second victory in the specialty race and sent the young standout to second in qualifying. Gadson was thrilled with the opportunity to take on Smith after a disappointing loss to him in the Callout in Sonoma.
“This was my first shot at him [Smith] since Sonoma, so I wanted to win that a little bit more than normal. I knew he’d probably do something at the start line. I didn’t know what it was going to be. I didn’t care what he did, so this one that one was all business,” Herrera said.
“It’s always a pleasure to race Matt. I’ve got a lot of respect for him. We have a lot of back-and-forth banter, but he’s not a six-time champ for no reason. You’ve got to kind of savor it because it can go the other way at any moment.”

FRIDAY QUALIFYING
A year after winning at The Big Go for the first time in his career, Pro Stock Motorcycle’s Gaige Herrera set the track E.T. record on the opening night of the race, going 6.739 at 200.98 on his RevZilla/Motul/Vance & Hines Suzuki. Herrera, the back-to-back world champion, is after his fourth No. 1 qualifier this season and 27th in his career as he looks to get on track to make a run at his third straight title.
Last year’s Indy win was another special moment for Herrera and he would love to repeat it this weekend, especially after Friday’s strong start.
“It’s hard to prepare for five runs here at Indy because you know anything can happen. I was shocked that we ran 6.73, but we just treated it like a test lap and we hit it hard,” Herrera said. “I don’t think we could have run any faster. That’s all she’s got. I don’t think that will be beaten the next two days.
“This is Indiana, so you never know what you’re going to get as far as weather. It’s perfect today. We figured that we might run 6.75 or 6.76, but that was a picture-perfect run. I don’t think the bike moved a quarter of an inch from side-to-side and that almost never happens.”
Matt Smith is currently second with a 6.779 at 199.88 and Richard Gadson, who won the most recent PSM race in Sonoma, is third after his run of 6.782 at 200.47.
