Evergreen Speedway concluded its historic 70th anniversary of circle track and figure eight racing on Saturday October 5th. The 2024 racing season saw incredible record setting action, excitement, and fantastic entertainment for the past several months. Evergreen Speedway drivers had an outstanding year in competition with the rest of the nation!
As the only NASCAR Track in Washington State the drivers and teams not only compete for the annual Evergreen Speedway Track Championships in their divisions, but they also compete in the NASCAR West Region and nationally against thousands of drivers in their classes.
Zach Bristol, a longtime racer at Evergreen Speedway won the NASCAR West Region Division 5 Championship, NASCAR National Championship and the NASCAR Track Championship with Dan Miller finishing third, and Christian Miller 5th in the region ahead of fellow track drivers Geno Solomon and Diezel Snyder who finished 8th and 9th. Zach’s amazing accomplishment will be highlighted at the NASCAR HALL OF FAME banquet in Charlotte, North Carolina on November 21st.
Quenton Borreson captured the NASCAR Western Region Division 4 NASCAR Championship, as well as the NASCAR Evergreen Speedway Super Stock Figure Eight Championship. Quenton added to his trophy case winning the 60 Minutes of FEAR Super Figure Eight Main Event. Evergreen drivers dominated the West in Division 4 with Sheridan Vincent capturing 2nd place, Mackenzie Deitz 3rd, Jeff Talbert 4th, Chevy Vincent 8th and Robert Weldon 9th. Dawson Cox won the Super Stock Figure Eight Nationals crown in July.
Coming ever so close to the NASCAR West Championship were three drivers from Evergreen Speedway. Steve Ptacek took 2nd place, Austin Camp 3rd with Jessie Jensen 4th in the Region. Jessie did win the NASCAR Tire Pros Street Stock Track Championship in a tight battle with Steve Ptacek. Kenny Erickson placed 8th in the West Region and 4th in the Track Championship.
Jackson Beckel brought home his first NASCAR BECU Mini Stock Track Championship and placing seventh in the West Region. Track Champion runner up Bobby Fisher placed eighth in the West. Travis Woodward had a strong season placing third in the Track Championship.
In our premier class, Wyatt Gardner won his first NASCAR PRO-LATE Model Championship and the NASCAR Washington State Championship as the featured division. Multi-time NASCAR Champion Naima Lang placed second with Colton Price coming in third. Wyatt also captured the Tire Pros Summer Showdown Pro Late Models race.
The Chain Lake Express Wash Outlaw Figure Eights rebounded in larger numbers to perform many incredible races this season. Chris Curtis captured the Season Championship with Seth Funden second and Dakota Wilkinson placed third this season. Ryan Clark was only two points behind Dakota, but did win the annual 60 minutes of FEAR Outlaw race on October 5th. In an incredible feat of will, grit and determination with his fight against cancer, Ricky Deitz won the Outlaw Figure Eight Nationals title.
The fastest cars to race at Evergreen Speedway are the Granite Wing Sprints. Greg Middendorf was crowned the Champion with Todd Coleman placing second and Marty Rosler coming in third.
The Buzz Inn Steakhouse Stinger 8 Division was a highlight reel every night with Matt Somerville edging out Peyton Hopp for the Season Championship and Bryce Kolar placing third. Matt closed out his season with a big win in the Stinger 8 60 Minutes of FEAR feature event. Damon Claibourn battled his way to the Stinger 8 class to win the Figure Eight Nationals this past July.
The Evergreen Legend class was one of the strongest classes all year long with amazing car counts and track battles with many dominating performances by Kyle Lang to wrap up the Championship. Braeden Wager had an outstanding year just edging out Mason Nelson for second place in the points standings.
While the Nelson Motorsports Youth Hornets do not compete for a points championship they were once again incredibly fun to watch and extremely competitive. This year’s group of 12–14-year-olds will continue to grow into higher classes and continue the Evergreen tradition. Many of these young racers are sons, daughters and grandchildren of former drivers and part of the Evergreen Heritage.
With multiple circle track and figure eight classes, Evergreen Speedway operates one of the most diverse racing programs in America, drawing in fans from across Puget Sound, Washington state and beyond.
