AUSTRALIA’S LANA FLACK SELECTED FOR MORE THAN EQUAL DRIVER DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM

More than Equal, a global initiative dedicated to nurturing and developing the next generation of female racing talent, has announced Australian Lana Flack as a part of its inaugural group of young female drivers for the ground-breaking Driver Development Program.

Flack, a two-time Ladies Trophy winner in the Australian Kart Championship, joins five other talented young female drivers from Austria, Malaysia, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and the United Kingdom. Aged between 13 and 14, these drivers have been identified for their exceptional promise and will receive support from More than Equal to maximise their potential.

The selection process for the Driver Development Program was rigorous, with candidates evaluated based on various criteria, including performance data and personal attributes. Flack and her fellow drivers were chosen using a global talent ranking system, along with detailed application reviews, to ensure a comprehensive assessment.

The program, designed to provide high-performance preparation for elite racing, offers a bespoke curriculum of technical and tactical coaching, physical preparation, and personal development. Flack and her peers will benefit from the expertise of experienced driving coaches and collaboration with Hintsa Performance, a leading evidence-based coaching group.

As part of the program launch, Flack and the inaugural driver cohort will attend a training and assessment camp at the prestigious Wurz Test and Training Center in Saalfeden, Austria. This world-renowned facility, founded by ex-F1 driver Alex Wurz, will host the first camp in the coming days.

Speaking about the initiative, David Coulthard, More than Equal Co-Founder, expressed his excitement.

“This is a hugely exciting moment for young female drivers in motorsport. Our program has been designed with their age and gender in mind, with specialist coaches supporting their journey and helping to maximise their potential,” said Coulthard.

Karting Australia Chief Executive Officer Kelvin O’Reilly commended the initiative, emphasising the importance of providing equal opportunities for female drivers.

“It’s pleasing to see young Australian talents like Lana being recognised and supported through initiatives like the More than Equal Driver Development Program,” said O’Reilly.

“The formal launch of our Girls Race Too Action Plan at the Building Better Kart Clubs Conference recently was an important step in formalising Karting Australia’s commitment to encouraging girls and women to become engaged with our sport.  It is initiatives like the More than Equal program and Girls Race Too that enhance the development of their talent alongside other male and female competitors in head-to-head competition.”

Flack will return to Australia next week after attending the first camp in Austria.  She will then prepare for the upcoming round of the Australian Kart Championship to be held in Emerald on May 30-June 1.
