Cadillac Confirms Single Car Entry For 2024 FIA WEC

0 24

Cadillac Racing will continue to compete with a single V-Series.R Hypercar in the FIA World Endurance Championship next season.

The Ganassi-run team, which competes in both the FIA WEC and IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship full time with a single car, will continue to do so next year due to budget limitations preventing an expansion of its effort.

That confirmation, in an IMSA media round table today from GM’s director of motorsport competition and engineering Mark Stielow, brings to an end speculation over the potential for a doubling up of the Ganassi Racing effort in the World Championship.

“We are going to have one car in the FIA WEC next year, mainly due to cost constraints of this platform. It’s definitely better to have two cars for the full season.

“It was a cost barrier. At the end of the day we all have to go to our boards to get budgets approved. At General Motors and Cadillac we are fighting in a lot of areas so we have to balance things to keep all of our children happy. We have to make tough decisions sometimes.”

Stielow did however state that Cadillac adding a third V-Series.R to its line-up for the Rolex 24 Hours in 2024, as it did back in January of this year, is still a possibility.

“We are still evaluating that. We are in the middle of doing a lot of testing and will announce it soon,” he added.
