NLS2 Postponed Until November
Wintry Weather in Germany has seen the decision taken to postpone the 46th NIMEX DMV 4h Race scheduled for Saturday.
Temperatures around freezing and expected snowfall on Friday afternoon and evening as well as on Saturday morning and morning have been forecast by several meteorological services.
An alternative date has already been set in November.
“The safety of our participants and helpers has top priority when conducting the NLS races,” says Michael Bork, sports manager and race director of the NLS. “According to several forecasts, snowfall is to be expected around the Nürburgring on Friday afternoon and evening. Freezing temperatures and precipitation are forecast for Friday and Saturday. Conditions await us under which, from the point of view of the race organizers, we cannot be responsible for holding the race event.”
The postponement of the second race is a great disappointment for the fans and everyone involved, after all more than 140 top-class vehicles – 28 alone in the SP9 and SP-X classes – had entered the four-hour race in the Green Hell. “We didn’t take the decision to postpone the event early on lightly,” says Ralph-Gerald Schlueter, Managing Director of VLN Sport GmbH & Co. KG. “However, the imponderables cannot be calculated and it was important to us, especially at the present time, not to expect the teams to travel unnecessarily. Luckily we have arranged an alternative date with the race track operator, so that the season will probably include all eight planned races in the end.”
The 140 car entry would have included 28 SP9 (GT3) entries including the recently announced TF Sport Aston Martin, Toksport WRT’s new Porsche and the first NLS entry for ROWE Racong’s new BMW M4 GT3s.
The next race of the Nürburgring Endurance Series will take place on April 23rd. The 53rd Adenauer ADAC Circuit Trophy covers the usual distance of four hours and will be the only NLS race prior to the ADAC 24 H qualifying race and the 24 Hours proper in May.
