President’s Report – Summer 2018
MSR-C was a fun race even though the Chevy Ford Challenge was not run due to little or no participants. We had 87 registered racers along with 3 NuArt Can-Am cars. I for one was very happy with the weekend since this is the first time in a long time my car stayed together for the entire event. Friday had a high around 100, Saturday was 110 and Sunday was a pleasant 97. We ran groups 1 and 7 together, 2 and 4 together, FV alone, wings and things by themselves and then the NuArt cars. The NuArt Can-Am cars were special invited guests just like the Allards and Indy Cars in the past. The NuArt cars did not run as well as expected, but we still got to see these monsters perform on track. I believe there was only one incident and fortunately no injuries. I want to especially recognize Chris Kellner as Race Chairman who put together a great race. Chris, Judy Kellner and Tom Taff who cooked the workers lunches all 3 days in the noontime heat. I think we hit a home run with the lunches since all the workers raved about how good the food was. Saturday evening, we enjoyed a cocktail party hosted by the NuArt cars. On a very sad note Merl Hansen with Timing and Scoring needed to be flown home due to illness. Merl is currently on dialysis and will be for the foreseeable future. Get well soon Merl! A big shout out to Jean and Liz for stepping in and taking over T&S without missing a lap. We are now on Summer break with the next race being Thunder on the Cimarron August 24 – 26. This should be a really good race since we will be using our own corner workers for the first time at Hallett. After Hallett we will have the Fall Race and School at MSR-Houston September 28 – 30. Be sure and talk up the school to those interested in racing with us. See you at the races, HH
