The Spires went 0-2 this week after a loss to the Friends Falcons on Wednesday and a loss to Kansas Wesleyan on Saturday. Their overall record is now 5-9, with a conference record of 0-7. On Wednesday in Wichita, Saint Mary was right behind the Falcons for most of the way until a late second-half scoring run put the game out of reach for the Spires, losing 77-63. Against Friends, Quentin Williams had his first double-double of the year with ten points and ten rebounds. Saturday, USM hosted the Kansas Wesleyan Coyotes and were down just seven points at halftime. However, the Coyotes pulled away in the second half and won by a score of 86-62. As a team, USM had a 39.5 shooting percentage, while Deshaud St. Martin led the Spires with 29 points on the week. The Spires will play against Avila University at 8 p.m. on Tuesday in Kansas City, Missouri. 

The University of Saint Mary Women's Basketball team went 1-1 this past week, with their overall record now being 6-5 and 3-4 in the KCAC. On Wednesday against Friends University, Alanis Delgado led the team with 24 points, while Paige Pendley had a double-double scoring 12 points with 11 rebounds. The Spires shot 51% from the field while holding the Falcons to 41% shooting, propelling Saint Mary to an 84-66 win. On Saturday night against Kansas Wesleyan University, Pendley again recorded a double-double. This time she scored 25 points and secured 12 rebounds. Free throws were the difference maker in this game as the Spires shot 69% while the Coyotes shot 90% from the line, ultimately pulling away from Saint Mary late in the fourth quarter for the 78-69 win. Saint Mary will travel to take on Avila University at 5 p.m. on Tuesday in Kansas City, Missouri.

The University of Saint Mary Women's Wrestling team took on the Avila University Eagles Thursday night, winning 29-20. Alyssa Cordova won by forfeit to get things started. The Eagles got the points right back with a pin in the 116-weight class. Saint Mary then responded with a big win by fall from Teya Villalpando to give USM the lead. Another open weight class gave the Spires six points. However, Avila got back-to-back pins to help them remain in the lead. Saint Mary took the lead back late with a win by tech fall as well as a pin from Lessly Sandoval to help Saint Mary secure the 29-20 win.

The University of Saint Mary Men's Wrestling team opened KCAC competition against the Avila Eagles Thursday, losing 33-16. Brody Gee opened the dual with a pin for the Spires to give them a 6-0 lead. Then Ethan Woods lost in a close overtime bout in a 9-4 decision, but Saint Mary still held onto a 6-3 lead. Freddie Barajas then wrestled up a weight class at 141 and secured an exciting overtime win with a pin. The Eagles then won four straight matches and put a win out of reach for Saint Mary. Gabe Chesbro ended the night with a 9-1 win by decision. The Spires will be at the Avila duals on Saturday in Kansas City, Missouri.
