[Women's Basketball] Rochester and Indiana Tech Prepare for Women's Basketball Nationals

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - (NAIA Release) - For the first time in 28 years, the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has just one division for women's basketball. The first championship was held in 1981 with all teams playing in the same division until the field split into two divisions in 1992.

This year, the 2021 NAIA Women's Basketball National Championship Tournament expanded from 32 to 48 teams with an Opening Round held at eight locations March 12-13. The Opening Round winners will meet up in Sioux City, Iowa, at the NAIA National Championship final site event. March 18-23.

Rochester and Indiana Tech, the two qualifiers from the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC), found out their opponents and Opening Round locations.

Conference champion Rochester travels to Marian University in Indianapolis, Ind. to face second-seeded Grand View (Iowa) at 5 p.m. (Eastern) on March 12 in the B Bracket. The winner plays top-seeded Marian.

WHAC Tournament winner Indiana Tech sits as the No. 2 seed in Crestview Hills Bracket B (Ky.) and faced third-seeded Rio Grande University (Ohio) on March 12 at 2:30 p.m. (Eastern). The winner then faces Indiana Wesleyan
