[WHAC] WHAC Teams Honored as NAIA Scholar-Teams

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - (NAIA Release) - The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) honored 177 teams from Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) schools as Scholar-Teams for the 2019-20 season. Teams must have a minimum 3.0 GPA (on a 4.0 scale) and include every varsity athlete certified as eligible in the sport and listed on any eligibility certificate to the WHAC. The GPAs included both fall and spring grades. 

Indiana Tech led the league with 22 teams honored (23 total with non-WHAC sport wrestling also honored). Aquinas followed with 20 scholar-teams. Rochester's women's cross country team sported the higest GPA among WHAC teams with a 3.870 (good enough for the fourth-best in the NAIA) closely followed by Indiana Tech's women's basketball mark of 3.820 and women's tennis GPA of 3.807.

The number is the highest number of teams honored for the WHAC. Last year, 119 teams were named Scholar-Teams and 126 received the award for the 2017-18 academic year.
