Cochise Men’s Rodeo finished second at Cochise County fair rodeo
The Cochise men finished second at the annual rodeo at the Cochise County Fair on Sept. 27 and 28. The Cochise College women’s rodeo team placed third.
The Apaches were led by Sophomore Catherine Clayton, who won the women’s all-around after placing second in the average of the breakaway and splitting second and fifth in the average of goat tying. Jill Donnelly won goat tying with Maddee Doerr and Clayton splitting second and fifth in the average on two runs. Alexis Manley finished sixth in the average. Hope Luttrell qualified for the short round in barrel racing but tipped a barrel for a penalty in her short round run.
The Cochise men held the top five spots in the competition. Stuart Wright won the saddle bronc riding, and Kai Rochill placed second. OT Edwards placed fourth in the tie down roping, and Sherrick Sanborn was second. Sanborn placed second in the second round of the steer wrestling. Garrett Lefebvre placed fifth in team roping.
Next up Cochise College rodeo heads to Tucumcari, New Mexico to compete in the Mesalands College Rodeo on October 11 and 12.
