Game Thread #154: Oakland Athletics vs. Minnesota Twins

0 7

Magic Number = 4

A very happy Friday to you, as we have hit the penultimate Friday night baseball thread in the 2018 regular season! Just your luck, you have me tonight and tomorrow, as the A’s will go up against the Twins, looking for a series win, and some help from their friends, to overtake the Yankees for the all-important home field advantage for the Wild Card Game. The A’s Magic Number currently sits at 4, and a win tonight coupled with a Rays loss could potentially clinch a playoff spot for your 2018 Oakland Athletics as early as tomorrow.

YES I KNOW! The 2018 Oakland Athletics are days, games, possibly one weekend away from GOING TO THE PLAYOFFS! I don’t care if it’s one game or twenty, this is as bonus baseball at it gets and not only are we on the verge of enjoying the playoffs with some green and gold, but haven’t we enjoyed nearly every single baseball game since the middle of June? I know I have. And sure, a nice, deep playoff run is the final goal, but I have loved baseball to a 2002-degree for the better part of four months now, and that hasn’t happened in years. So let’s enjoy one more last home weekend of A’s baseball, and with any luck, the A’s will be back for an all-important game on their home field soon.

Tonight the A’s will start with Liam Hendriks, followed by a mystery guest pitcher. That sounds good. The A’s lineup, who outscored the Raiders in a single game yesterday, will pick it right back up today.

Let’s do this!
