Herron Named SEC Pitcher of the Week
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark.– Arkansas senior left-handed pitcher Robyn Herron has been named the SEC Pitcher of the Week after her performance during last weekend’s sweep of Auburn, the league office announced Tuesday afternoon.
Herron was magnificent during the Hogs’ 3-0 showing, registering a win and a save while posting 0.00 ERA with 10 strikeouts, three hits allowed, and four walks in eight innings of work while limiting opposing hitters to a .115 batting average.
The Tampa, Fla., product was dominant during her 49th career victory, striking out eight and allowing just two hits and three walks in five shutout innings of work during the 10-0 (5 inn.) victory over Auburn on Saturday. With the win, Herron improved to 11-2 on the season. She also collected her 15th career shutout, tying her for fourth in program history alongside Katy Henry (2005-2008) and Rachel Talley (1999-2002).
She picked up her third save of the season in a 4-1 series finale win over Auburn on Monday night by pitching three shutout innings and allowing just one hit and a walk while striking out two batters. The save was the sixth of her career, moving her into a tie for seventh in program history.
The honor marks Herron’s second SEC Pitcher of the Week Award this season and third of her career. She previously accomplished the feat this season on Feb. 16 after registering 15 strikeouts, allowing no runs and surrendering just one hit and three walks in 6.2 innings pitched during the Hogs’ 4-0 showing at the States Up!
