Arkansas Heads North for Sunday Doubleheader
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Arkansas men’s tennis team (7-2) heads to Nebraska this weekend for a doubleheader with Nebraska (7-1) at 12:00 p.m. and Creighton (6-3) at 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 15.
The Razorbacks are back in action after finishing 1-1 last weekend, where the squad defeated San Diego State on Friday before falling to Oklahoma State in a highly contested matchup on Sunday. No. 19 Jakub Vrba continued his hot start to the year, winning both of his singles matches in straight sets at the No. 1 position to improve to 6-0 this spring.
Nebraska is off to a 7-1 start this season and recently went split a pair of matches against Ole Miss and North Dakota in Lincoln, Neb. The Huskers have also picked up victories over Texas Tech and Memphis this year. Nikolay Sysoev has secured three singles wins in the top spot for Nebraska, while Leo Linquet is 6-1 this spring on courts one and two. The Huskers have grabbed the doubles point in seven of their eight matches this season, with the duo of Lamchinniah/Linquet earning four victories.
Creighton is 6-3 overall after two wins against Nebraska-Kearney and Pratt Community College. The Blue Jays will travel to South Bend, Ind. for a match on Friday with Notre Dame before their match in Lincoln, Neb. on Sunday. Creighton is headlined by Yuma Daijima, Robby McKenzie and Kirtan Patel, who have all competed on courts one through three in singles this season. The Blue Jays are led in singles wins by Mathis Dahler with five dual wins this spring.
